Speed, Agility and Stamina
Kho-Kho is the traditional Indian game that tests speed, agility and stamina. It is a ground sport that is played in a rectangular area with a central line connecting two poles. During the game, nine players from the attacking team are on the field, with eight of them sitting in a squat position on the central line, while three runners from the defending team run around the court and try to avoid being touched. Each sitting player on the chasing team faces the opposite direction of their adjacent teammates. The active chaser cannot cross the central line to access the other half of the field. The chaser cannot change direction once they start running toward either pole. However, the chaser can switch roles with other chasers who are sitting by touching them and saying the word “Kho.” A combination of tactics, speed and strategy is necessary for the teams to score higher points and win the game.
Our institute has produced some of the best players in this game with many national level players and 7 prestigious ‘Shiv Chhatrapati Awardees’ including one Best Coach Awardee – Adv. Arun Deshmukh.
